2+2/3+2 Transfer Program
Advancing forestry education through international collaboration.
The 2+2/3+2 Transfer Program is a partnership between the UBC Faculty of Forestry & Environmental Stewardship and leading Chinese forestry universities, allowing students to complete two or three years of post-secondary study in China before finishing their degrees at the University of British Columbia. Graduates earn a UBC Bachelor of Science degree in Bioeconomy Sciences and Technology, Conservation, Forest Management, Forest Operations, Wood Products or Urban Forestry.
Recognized as one of the largest forestry transfer programs of its kind globally, the initiative has helped prepare highly qualified graduates in forestry research and management while strengthening academic collaboration across institutions. Formal agreements—approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education—include partnerships with Nanjing Forestry University, Fujian Agricultural and Forestry University, Beijing Forestry University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, and Zhejiang Agricultural and Forestry University.
Beyond student exchange, the program has fostered faculty exchange, supported joint research initiatives, and enabled the sharing of high-quality teaching resources among partner universities.
